Mary, Mother
When God wanted to teach us unbridled love, he renounced all privilege and grew in a womb, like any other person.
We see nothing in that peasant that would make her a candidate for a great mission. That lack of a “résumé” won God over.
“He laid His eyes on the meekness of His slave.”
Mary helped Jesus grow, until one day… she delivered him to us:
“Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.”
And Jesus, before dying, also delivered Mary to us:
“Behold thy mother!”
Perhaps we don’t know Her, or have never spoken with Her. It doesn’t matter. Because being a “mother” is an unconditional gift with no expiration date. We are her children, whether we know it or not. We can call Her right now: Mom! A good mother responds as fast as possible.
