Silvia Buso (Padua)

A young, cheerful and sports-loving girl is given dreadful news: “You’ll never walk again.” She was 17 and in a wheelchair, paraplegic and suffering from epileptic seizures. She lost her smile.

Nine months later she travelled to Medjugorje, a town in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“I knew nothing about that place. Except that they said the Virgin appeared there. I didn’t believe in miracles, I thought they were impossible. Which is why I didn’t ask for my healing. I just asked the Virgin for the strength to smile once again while living in a wheelchair. For the first time in my life I prayed with my heart.”

The next day, Silvia was the first of her group to reach the top of Mount Krizevac… on foot.
